Time Flies

"Our days on earth are as fleeting as a shadow." (Job 8:9)

Our time here is brief and our days are numbered (Psalm 39:4). I want to live like that. But most of the time I don't. When pain entangles my body and trials come my way it's hard not to wallow in the moment and lose sight of the promise that relief will one day come. Hardships can test our faith. They can make every ache seem like a million years. They can rob us of contentment and joy and leave us feeling hopeless, like the anguish will never end. They can also keep us from believing that there is a purpose to it all, a reason for us to still have breath in our lungs. We are all running out of time. What would you do today if you really believed that?

"A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day." (2 Peter 3:8)
