“Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”
— C.S. Lewis
Embracing the hard
When chronic illness reared its ugly head in our lives, I had no idea just how difficult each day would be. What started as dizziness, quickly evolved into chronic pain that would not relent. Doctor after doctor, procedure after procedure, even an upending move from one side of the country to the other to find warmer dryer weather, all left me feeling the same - struggling to get through each day. I have bad days and really bad days. So much of what is seen online is the happy, perfect, pain-free life that we all desire. But in reality, I think we are all struggling in some way. There is purpose in our pain that transcends our understanding. Christ uses our pain to bring us closer to him. I find peace knowing my Faithful Father and Great Physician knows exactly what I need each hard day.
